Shooting gallery was also the name of the game accessory which was built in the form of a shooting gun. It was a light gun that was used to play the video games in the video game console Magnavox Odyssey. Shooting game was especially built as an accessory for Magnavox Odyssey by Ralph Baer and it was also a part of the initial prototype of the video game console. Shooting gallery was a user interface to play games on Magnavox Odyssey. The game worked for four games altogether. the four games for which the game worked were: Shooting Gallery game, shootout and two other games. The video game console had a special port to connect the shooting gallery in there. The first ever game the light gun only detected light and not the targets that needed to be hit. Due to the false rumors that shooting game will only work on specific television sets the sales for the game suffered a lot.
